Synopsis

Big Maggie by John B. Keane is a powerful and provocative Irish drama that explores family, power, and female autonomy in rural Ireland. The play opens with the funeral of Maggie Polpin’s husband. Now widowed, Maggie seizes the opportunity to take full control of her life—and her family. She becomes the uncompromising matriarch of the household and the family business, determined to impose her will on her four adult children. Each child has their own dreams and desires, but Maggie’s iron grip and emotional manipulation drive them away one by one.
